THE HISTORY OF BRADENTON BEACH
The City of Bradenton Beach was first established at the south end of the island and incorporated in 1953. Home to local landmarks such as the historic Bridge Street Pier, the Anna Maria Princess paddle wheel boat, and Coquina Beach - visitors can find plenty of daytime activities and a vibrant nightlife to enjoy.
Coquina Beach has some of the best shelling on Anna Maria Island and it's not uncommon to see hundreds of vibrant colored and live coquina shells wash up with each wave. This stretch of Anna Maria Island has the most accessible beaches and public parking available. You'll also spot numerous lifeguard towers on these beaches and even a beach front cafe right on the sand.
